A school with a view

Almost completed, Ysgol Parc y Tywyn is situated on the former site of Carmarthen Bay Powerstation, a brownfield site, which runs alongside the Millennium Coastal Path, boasting beautiful sea views across the Loughor Estuary.

The new 1.5 form entry school has been designed to both the Passivhaus standard and BREEAM Excellent requirements, targeting an EPC rating of A.

The layout of the school harnesses natural light, with open, double height areas and clerestory windows. The floor plan offers a variety of teaching and breakout spaces, to suit modern teaching methods, with classrooms situated around generous hub spaces on both floors.

An animated and environmentally conscience landscape strategy encourages wildlife and responds contextually to the area's coastal vegetation; as well as providing space for outdoor learning, such as a miniature amphitheatre wind-break , and covered learning areas.
